Armaan fights bad luck and comes out on top by taking 5th place in Monza after starting 16th.

Report: official practice: Armaan posted the 4th fastest time after taking his time to learn the high speed Monza track in Italy.

Qualifying 1: Armaan was up on the times in the 1st 2 laps after bolting on new tyres. On his hot lap when the tyres came in, Armaan had done the fastest 1st sector and then Ajit spun across the track in front of him and he had to back off. That put paid to his best lap as the best of the tyres had gone and he qualified 6th.

Race 1: In race 1, Armaan got hit by Stoneman in the 1st lap and the car went spiraling into the gravel which ended his race immediately.

In qualifying 2, Armaan was on P2, and on the critical lap where the boost is allowed which gives 50 more bhp which is 1.5 seconds quicker on the lap times, Armaan hit traffic and thus could use only one boost shot instead of 3. This put him 16th on the grid.

Race 2:

Starting 16th in Monza is a daunting task as Monza is the fastest track in the world making overtaking very difficult. Armaan had a good start making 3 places in lap 1 and then drove the race of his life by passing another 8 cars in the next 12 laps. He passed Clarke on the outside going into Parabolica with 2 wheels on the grass. A move which all said was impossible to pull off. Next was Snoeks. Armaan got passed Snoeks and was within sight of Stoneman for the 4th place. But Snoeks cut the chicane twice and went past Armaan. A drive through penalty was given to Snoeks, but he ignored it and finally ignored even the Black flag. This allowed Stoneman to pull away a bit. Armaan finally had to dive in on the inside going into Lesmos another high speed corner and got the better of Snoeks. But for some reason Snoeks turned into Armaan which broke Armaan’s rear wheel in half. But then lady luck finally came to Armaan and the wheel did not collapse which allowed Armaan to complete the last lap of the race with a wobbling wheel and fend off the cars behind him.

Commented Armaan:

“It was a weekend of mixed emotions. We were right on top in practice 1 and qualifying 1. Qualifying 1 could have been better had a car not spun in front of me on my hot lap.

Race 1 ended before it started after I got hit by Stoneman in my 1st lap itself. Qualifying 2 was looking good as was on P2 and on critical lap where they use the boost which gives an additional 50 bhp and quicker lap time of approximately 1.5 seconds, I hit traffic which completely ruined the most critical lap and as a result I was 16th of the grid. Race 2 was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed myself passing close to 11 cars on a circuit that is extremely difficult for overtaking. All in all what could have been a better weekend which all of a sudden looked like turning to shit ended reasonably well”.
